Description
Dear Members and Friends of ACGS,
As dedicated members of our genealogical community, you understand the importance of preserving our heritage and making research accessible to all. Our Members Only portal offers access to essential resources like Généalogie Québec, PRDH, and MyHeritage. However, our Research Library holds over 9,000 books, including our extensive collection of parish repertoires—invaluable resources that are not available on other genealogical websites.
Since 2021, our Society has embarked on a transformative journey to digitize our Research Library holdings, and we are thrilled to announce that 1,400 books in our library are now accessible on our website through the Members Only portal. Whether you live close enough to visit our Research Library or across the globe, now all members can explore these records with ease, all from the comfort of home.
When we began this ambitious project, we set a budget of $75,000. While we’ve made significant progress, we currently have about $19,000 remaining from our initial budget—which means we are now at a critical juncture. To ensure the continuation of this project, we are setting a goal to increase our digitization budget by an additional $50,000. This funding will allow us to scan the remaining books that our dedicated staff identified as the most relevant and useful materials for online researchers.
This is where you can make a difference. Your contributions are crucial in helping us achieve our goals and bolstering the future of ACGS. Every donation, no matter the size, will be used exclusively to support this important digitization project, ensuring that we can provide our members with the tools they need to uncover their family histories.
The future of genealogical societies like ours relies on modernizing our resources and providing easy access to information—especially data that cannot be found in the public domain. By contributing today or becoming a member, you are investing in a growing community that values and preserves our shared history.
